Let’s talk about the bench press, a common weight room exercise.

The bench press in exercise should be part of weight-room routines with youth athletes for a few reasons.

One reason why the bench press should be improved is due to the fact that we want the girls or boys we coach, especially the girls, to have the capacity to exert some some serious power in giving a mighty shove of another when necessary to clear one's personal space. The bench press offers a push-away-motion and provides one small step to self-protection.

Furthermore, that insight can be flipped into a key motivator too.
