Associate Head Coach will help The Director of Competitive Swimming supervise, and guide

the SJAC swim program with direct supervision & on-deck coaching of the National, Pre-National

team, and all 13 & over swim groups. The expectation will be for this coach to assist with younger

groups with the Head Age Group Coach in order to develop strong relationships with swimmers,

coaches and parents.

Mentor all staff members and ensure appropriate placement of staff within club programs to create healthy coach/athlete relationships.

• Provide formal written performance appraisals for staff on annual basis that highlight both individual strengths and development opportunities; provide copies to Board of Directors.

• Present to the SJAC Coaching Staff, Coaches’ education once a quarter.

• Help the Director of Competitive Swimming plan and direct staff meetings at least once per month.

• Set training calendar to ensure appropriate progression for all swim groups.

COMMUNICATION

Communicate regularly and appropriately with general memberships regarding team events, swim meets, schedule changes, program updates, etc. Maintains scheduled hours and availability to the SJAC swimmers/families for individual meetings as requested. Communicate with Administrative staff about swimmer placement changes, staffing needs, practice changes, etc.

ADMINISTRATION

Help the Director of Competitive Swimming plan quarterly parent education programs.

• Administer and enforce team policies and procedures with general membership and coaching staff.

• Be a contributing presence within the Middle Atlantic LSC marked by regular attendance at meetings and committee work.

• Assist in marketing and fundraising efforts regarding organization and athletes.

• Review and obtain signed copies of USA Swimming Code of Conduct for all coaching staff.

• Have experience working with Team Unify

FACILITIES MANAGEMENT

Set daily practice sessions that maximize pool resources and swimmer development.

• Maintain a clear and orderly deck.

CERTIFICATIONS

• CPR/AED/Coaches Safety or First Aid

• Maintain USA Certification

• Must have passed the USA Swimming Foundations 101 and 201 class plus have a positive Background check and completion of Athlete Protection
