Every coach has their preferred methods for helping swimmers improve.
And just about anything can work, provided it's done well and one is consistent in what they do. However, different athletes are going to need different things. Most would agree that a training program for a 50-m freestyler would be different from a training program for a 1500-m freestyler.
No matter what you believe is important, it's probably not going to work out to have everyone do exactly the same thing all the time.
We know this, but it can be difficult to manage and actually navigate this challenge.
Should you change your key principles for individual athletes, or should you simply adjust how you apply those principles for different athletes and different events?
