  • About the Coaching in Canada eLearning module High performance sport in Canada prioritizes a safe, holistic, values-based approach to coaching that focuses on athlete well-being. Safety in sport, an athlete-centered approach, and the performance of athletes are inseparable. The CAC developed the Coaching in Canada eLearning module to support international coaches in applying and adapting their coaching methods, principles, values, and past experiences within the context of sport in Canada. After completing this module, coaches will better understand the sport community in Canada and learn how to implement athlete-centered coaching practices.
  • https://coach.ca/resource/coaching-canada-toolkit The Coaching in Canada Toolkit provides recommended practices and considerations related to the recruitment, screening, and onboarding of national and international coaches, that coach Canadian athletes and sport participants in Canada or abroad. The purpose of the toolkit is to provide transparent and consistent standards of practice for recruiting international coaches. This toolkit was developed in the context of high-performance sport, however the information, tools, and resources provided are applicable to other levels of sport and sport organizations or clubs.
  • It outlines the progression from the responsible coaching movement to becoming a registered or chartered professional coach. The Responsible Coaching Movement is the framework recommended for all sport organizations to adhere and use as the standard.

Safe sport initiatives benefit everyone and are not meant to target coaches specifically.

  • Create a Quality Sport Environment
  • Together, we can build a safe sport environment
  • Creating a culture where everyone can thrive is a shared responsibility. The CAC offers programs, tools, resources, and leading practices on Safe Sport and Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.
  • It is wise for organizations to invest in their coaches' development by registering them as a Registered or Chartered Professional Coach as this program provides access to various services, such as legal, liability insurance, current research, as well as topic-specific webinars on coaching as a career.

Chartered Professional Coaches® and Registered Coaches
